Jabronie · Jabra Speak2 75 × Microsoft Teams
Your mute button.
Finally wired to Teams.
Over Bluetooth, the Jabra Speak2 75 has no HID channel, so Teams never hears its mute button. Jabronie steps into the ring and bridges the two, in both directions, from your menu bar.
The problem
Speaker and meeting kept disagreeing about whether you could be heard.
Press the Jabra's mute button and its red LED lights up, but Teams keeps broadcasting. Mute in Teams and the speaker still thinks it's live. Jabra's USB dongle fixes this with a HID channel. Plain Bluetooth has none.
Jabra → Teams
The speaker sends its mute press as an HFP mic-gain change. Jabronie watches that input volume and presses Teams' own in-meeting mic button through macOS Accessibility. It only toggles when the two states disagree.
Teams → Jabra
During a call, Jabronie reads Teams' mic button once a second and mirrors the state onto the speaker's mic gain and the menu bar icon, so the LED and the meeting always agree.
Status at a glance
A luchador in your menu bar.
The mask changes colour with your call state, so you never have to hunt for the Teams window to check.
Also in the ring
Small extras that earn their keep.
Battery watch
Reads the Jabra's battery level and posts a notification when a call starts below 30%, before the speaker dies mid-sentence.
Teams in the background
Jabronie presses the mic button through Accessibility, so it works even when Teams isn't the frontmost app.
Launch at login
One checkbox in the menu and Jabronie is waiting in the corner every time you sit down.
Install
Four steps and you're tag-teamed.
Jabronie is signed and notarized with Apple, so it opens like any other Mac app.
Download and drag
Open Jabronie-1.0.0.dmg and drag Jabronie into the Applications folder shortcut.
Grant Accessibility
Privacy & Security → Accessibility → enable Jabronie. This is how it presses Teams' mic button.
Allow notifications
Accept the prompt so you get the low-battery warning.
Fix one Teams setting
In Teams, turn off automatic mic sensitivity adjustment. Otherwise Teams resets the gain and un-mutes the speaker.
Mute means mute.
Press the button on the speaker and be muted in Teams. Mute in Teams and watch the speaker's LED agree. That's the whole trick.
