What it does

Dictation that keeps up with how you actually talk.

Loqui is built around one gesture: hold, speak, release. Everything else, from filler words to your own vocabulary, is handled before the text lands on the page.

Hotkey dictation

Hold fn and talk; release to transcribe and paste. Tap once to lock hands-free mode, tap again to finish. Prefer Right ⌘ or ⌥ Space? Switch in the menu bar.

Live overlay

A floating pill shows your mic level and the transcript as you speak, so you always know Loqui is listening and what it heard.

Personal dictionary

Teach Loqui the words it gets wrong. get hub becomes GitHub, jason becomes JSON, and names keep the exact casing you choose. Edit visually or in a plain text file.

Clean by default

"Um", "uh", and "hmm" disappear. Stutters collapse ("I I think" becomes "I think"). Sentence capitalization is repaired automatically.

Seven days of history

Every dictation is kept locally for a week. Search it, re-copy with one click, delete individual items, or turn the feature off entirely.

Auto-paste and auto-mute

Finished text is pasted into the frontmost app and your previous clipboard is restored. System audio mutes while the mic is live so music never bleeds in.

Privacy by architecture

Nothing leaves your Mac. Not even the audio.

Most dictation tools stream your voice to a server. Loqui runs Apple's on-device SpeechAnalyzer engine, so the only network activity is a one-time, system-managed download of the speech model.

Hold and speak

Press the hotkey. The overlay appears, system audio mutes, and the mic starts listening.

Transcribe on-device

Apple's speech engine turns audio into text locally. Your dictionary and filler-word rules are applied instantly.

Release and paste

Clean text lands in the app you're using. Your clipboard is restored a second later.

Optional AI Cleanup, on your terms. Turn it on with your own Anthropic API key and Claude will tidy false starts, self-corrections, and punctuation. It sends only the finished text, never audio, your key lives in the macOS Keychain, and a hard three-second deadline falls back to the locally cleaned text if the network is slow. Off by default.

Your words, your rules

A dictionary you can read.

The dictionary is a plain text file you own. Three rule types cover almost everything: replace a heard phrase, remove a phrase, or force exact casing. Rules apply longest-phrase-first and take effect immediately.

# heard phrase => replacement
jason => JSON
get hub => GitHub
sort of =>
# bare word: force this casing
